Dandelion

Acrylic on canvas (16”X20”) 2021

This is a self-portrait of the artist who greatly identifies with the characteristics of the dandelion plant. Part of a nine piece series on herbalism and the miraculous force of plant medicine, this painting focuses on the resilient and often misunderstood dandelion. In traditional herbal medicine practices, dandelion is revered for it’s wide array of medicinal properties, yet many view the plant as a stubborn weed which they try in vane to keep out of their yards. However, many don’t know that the dandelion is actually quite beneficial to the nutrient content and aeration of soil.
