Part of a nine piece series on herbalism and the miraculous force of plant medicine, this painting’s focus is the amazing, stinging nettle. despite it’s notorious sting, this plant has an abundance of positive health benefits. that dichotomy of pain and gain is why I chose to depict it alongside the classic maxim of alchemy, “solve et coagula” which means that something must be broken down before it can be built back up again, destroyed in order to be recreated. I enjoy the parallel here that our pain ultimately contributes to our growth.
